Today, 1 July, TAP begins flying between Lisbon and four new European destinations: Asturias (Oviedo), Belgrade, Nantes and St Petersburg. The company today is also beginning operations to Colombia and Panama, which are joining the Brazilian cities of Manaus and Belém, to which the company began flying at the beginning of June.
Of the total of 11 new destinations TAP announced will start this summer, the company now flies to eight, and this week will begin flights to Gothenburg (2 July), Hanover (3 July) and Tallinn (4 July).
With six weekly flights to Nantes and Asturias (Oviedo), three flights a week to Belgrade, Tallinn and St Petersburg, and four each week to Hanover and Gothenburg, TAP has considerably increased its European network, which now has a total of 56 destinations across the continent.
The launch of TAP’s routes to Colombia and Panama represent a decisive step in the company’s expansion strategy in Central and Southern America, a region of the globe in which TAP already has a privileged position as the leading airline serving Brazil, where is flies to almost every geographic region with flights to 12 cities.
In launching the service to Bogota, with four flights each week, TAP has gained momentum and entry into new markets with strong potential for growth, particularly in Colombia, a country with which Portugal is developing ever closer relations of economic co-operation. In this way the company is aiming to meet the need for direct links between the two countries, helping to encourage the flow of traffic, both business and tourism, between the two countries.
